{"id":1360,"date":"2013-10-01T06:00:52","date_gmt":"2013-10-01T06:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/?p=1360"},"modified":"2013-12-10T10:30:14","modified_gmt":"2013-12-10T10:30:14","slug":"keynote-about-trends-in-gis-and-visualization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/2013\/10\/keynote-about-trends-in-gis-and-visualization\/","title":{"rendered":"Keynote about trends in GIS and visualization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>People at Zurich electricity provider ewz have recently kindly invited me to give a keynote presentation at one of their telematics events.<\/p>\n<p>The task was to sketch emerging trends in GIS and visualisation from three perspectives: as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ebp.ch\/en\">GIS consultant at Ernst Basler + Partner<\/a>, as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oii.ox.ac.uk\">researcher at Oxford Internet Institute<\/a> and as an individual that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\">sometimes undertakes GIS and geovisualisation projects<\/a>. I ended up highlighting four big trends that I think will continue to control developments in GIS\/visualisation (although I will concede that certain aspects of these trends are over-hyped here and there).
