Among others, this\u00a0selection contains a very nice looking example of a <a href=\"http:\/\/andywoodruff.com\/blog\/value-by-alpha-maps\/\">value-by-alpha map<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/flowingdata.com\/2014\/11\/05\/senate-results-maps\/\">U.S. Midterm Elections<\/a>.\u00a0Another kind of visualization I personally like is showcased by <a href=\"http:\/\/flowingdata.com\/2014\/06\/11\/a-visual-analysis-of-the-boston-subway-system\/\">a piece on Boston&#8217;s public transit<\/a>: The so-called Marey Diagram visualizes space-time abstractly and very effectively.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/flowingdata.com\/2014\/11\/05\/senate-results-maps\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1849 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/2014-Senate-election-results.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/2014-Senate-election-results.png 620w, https:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/2014-Senate-election-results-300x220.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><br \/>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2014\/12\/favorite-maps-year\/\">Our\u00a0Favorite Maps of the Year Cover Everything From Bayous to Bullet Trains<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0by Wired<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>A much appraised pick in this list is certainly the animated <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/110348926\">UK24<\/a> from NATS showing\u00a0air traffic over the UK. Personally, I like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2014\/07\/new-geologic-map-mars-usgs\">new geologic map of Mars<\/a> by the USGS.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2014\/07\/new-geologic-map-mars-usgs\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1850 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/mars-map-usgs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"515\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/mars-map-usgs.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/mars-map-usgs-300x154.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><br \/>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cartonerd.blogspot.ch\/2014\/12\/favourite-maps-from-2014.html\"><strong>Favourite Maps from 2014<\/strong><\/a> by Kenneth\u00a0Field<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Out of this list my favorites are <a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-cO4z4JMfS9E\/VI9TfYle_cI\/AAAAAAAAA7k\/Xi4g1iqx0vI\/s1600\/MapCarte81_obrien_cover.png\">Ollie O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s cover for The BMJ<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/darkhorseanalytics.com\/blog\/breathing-city\/\">John Cherdarchuk&#8217;s dynamic visualization of\u00a0the population in\u00a0New York City<\/a>. O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s map\u00a0is an ordinary enough density map\u00a0of\u00a0bicycle flow data in London.
