{"id":303,"date":"2011-04-15T13:45:28","date_gmt":"2011-04-15T11:45:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/visurus.wordpress.com\/?p=303"},"modified":"2011-04-15T13:45:28","modified_gmt":"2011-04-15T11:45:28","slug":"swiss-maps-on-your-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ralphstraumann.ch\/blog\/2011\/04\/swiss-maps-on-your-website\/","title":{"rendered":"Swiss maps on your website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday in the late afternoon the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisstopo.admin.ch\/internet\/swisstopo\/en\/home.html\">Swiss Federal Office of Topography<\/a> (Swisstopo) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geowebforum.ch\/thread.php?postingID=2314#2314\">declared<\/a> (German) the exposure of maps via web service and opening up of\u00a0their API\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.admin.ch\/message\/index.html?lang=de&amp;msg-id=38598\">press release<\/a> also only in German) through\u00a0<em>Swisstopo web access<\/em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisstopo.admin.ch\/internet\/swisstopo\/en\/home\/products\/services\/web_services\/webaccess.html\">brief description<\/a> in English) with the following two options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>WMTS\u00a0option<\/em>\u00a0(Web Map Tile Service):<br \/>\nThis service lets you display current geodata (aerial imagery at 25 and 50 cm resolution, national maps at all scales and historic Dufour and Siegfried maps; see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geo.admin.ch\/internet\/geoportal\/de\/home\/services\/geoservices\/display_services\/api_services\/order_form\/liste_der_verfuegbaren0.html\">list<\/a>)\u00a0from Swisstopo. Up to a certain amount of served data, the service is free. If necessary, the quota can be enlarged by paying a fee. More details in English can be gleaned from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisstopo.admin.ch\/internet\/swisstopo\/en\/home\/products\/services\/web_services\/webaccess.parsysrelated1.61721.DownloadFile.tmp\/productsheete.pdf\">product sheet<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><em><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Application programming interface\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Application_programming_interface\" rel=\"wikipedia\">API<\/a> option<\/em> called <em>GeoAdmin<\/em>:<br \/>\nFor easier integration of maps into your website, additional functionality and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geo.admin.ch\/internet\/geoportal\/de\/home\/services\/geoservices\/display_services\/api_services\/order_form\/liste_der_verfuegbaren.html\">more data<\/a>. Using the API requires you to first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geo.admin.ch\/internet\/geoportal\/de\/home\/services\/geoservices\/display_services\/api_services\/order_form.html\">sign up<\/a> with Swisstopo. There is extensive <a href=\"http:\/\/api.geo.admin.ch\/main\/wsgi\/doc\/build\/\">documentation<\/a> of the API as well as a <a href=\"http:\/\/groups.google.com\/group\/geoadmin-api\">Google Group<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is certainly thrilling and revolutionary for anybody working with Swiss geodata.
