I can&#8217;t find first-hand information on its author, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popsci.com\/science\/article\/2011-09\/video-astronaut-photo-mosaic-lets-you-fly-across-earth-hd\">PopSci<\/a> claims that it was created by a certain James Drake, who stitched together 600 publicly available images shot from the ISS.\u00a0The cities&#8217; lights look great, especially together with the frequent thunderstorms lighting up the clouds (watch in HD and full-screen)!<!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"1088\" height=\"612\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/74mhQyuyELQ?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>I found it hard to guess the location, but here&#8217;s some meta-information from <a href=\"http:\/\/infinity-imagined.tumblr.com\/post\/10336160505\/a-time-lapse-taken-from-the-front-of-the\">Infinity Imagined<\/a>, presumably James Drake&#8217;s Tumblr:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This movie begins over the Pacific Ocean and continues over North and South America [&#8230;] Visible cities, countries and landmarks include (in order) Vancouver Island, Victoria, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Fransisco, Los Angeles. Phoenix. Multiple cities in Texas, New Mexico and Mexico. Mexico City, the Gulf of Mexico, the Yucatan Peninsula, Lightning in the Pacific Ocean, Guatemala, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and the Amazon.
